CAREER MENTOR PROGRAM

CGR’s membership mostly consists of minority, female, First Gen college students who, unfortunately, are disproportionately underpaid and underrepresented in their fields post-graduation. Despite being incredible leaders in their classrooms, on their campuses and in their communities, many of them aren’t given the tools to successfully navigate their respective career fields and professional journeys.

DID YOU KNOW: According to The Education Trust 2021

  • Black women with college degrees have seen their employment rates decline by 4.9% since 2000

  • Black women incur higher amounts of student loan debt than all other students

  • Black women consistently have the highest unemployment rates amoung all women

  • Black women earn 63 cents for every dollar earned by White Male co-workers

  • Black women are twice as likely as white women to work in the lowest-paying service sector jobs

  • Mentoring programs can boost minority representation at the management level from 9% to 24% (Source)
